Residents of a Yonkers neighborhood are calling for safety improvements at a dangerous intersection where drivers routinely ignore stop signs.
News 12 cameras captured numerous vehicles disregarding the stop sign at the intersection of Woodworth Avenue and Point Street. Residents say they fear it's only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured.
"If I'm crossing and they're not stopping, and they don't pay attention to me walking I can get hit by a car," said Jose Ortiz, a Yonkers resident.
Residents are demanding increased police enforcement, as well as potential traffic lights, speed bumps, and marked walkways.
A Yonkers police spokesperson told News 12 that while there have been no documented complaints at the intersection, they will send officers to investigate.
