Between 50 and 60 residents living at the Whitney Young Housing Complex in Yonkers received letters Saturday warning of possible eviction.
The letters came from Legal Services of the Hudson Valley. In the letters, residents were informed they may have to find new places to live. In order to stay put, residents must receive a special voucher from the Yonkers Housing Authority.
Residents say they are worried there will not be enough of the vouchers to go around. The complex was purchased by a group called Omni New York in April and has since been undergoing renovations such as paint jobs, repairs and the installation of camera systems.
"If we have no place to live, what's the difference if they've got all this here?" asked resident Sharon Delfino.
Housing authority officials could not be reached for comment on the situation.
