Yonkers is starting the school year with several major updates across its public schools.
Associate Superintendent of schools Dr. Eileen Rivera-Shapiro joined News 12 this morning to discuss the new year and says four schools have new principals and the district has introduced a mobile app to improve communication.
A new strategic plan called "Yonkers 2030" is also being implemented, along with an updated code of conduct and support system.
These changes come as the state enforces a ban on cellphones during class time.
