A Boy Scout Troop from Yorktown Heights and members of the community volunteered to spruce up the grave markers at a cemetery in Shrub Oak.

Boy Scout Troop 1776 cleaned and restored 48 civil and revolutionary war grave markers that were hundreds of years old. Many of them had never been cleaned and were unrecognizable.

The volunteers placed new American flags on the veteran grave markers and made sure they looked polished so they can present them to the United Methodist Church Parishioners and Cemetery Committee in time for Memorial Day.
