New City resident Danielle Cifuni became a local hero after she jumped into the deep end of a backyard swimming pool to save the life of a baby deer that fell into the water and almost drowned.

She says her instincts took over and there was no time to waste.

Cifuni, who has an 8-year-old son, says she loves animals and wouldn't hesitate to rescue one in distress.

Her heroics have since gone viral on social media.
