A Sloatsburg woman said she was attacked and raped as she was walking down Mill Street Wednesday night.
The 22-year-old victim told police she was walking to a local restaurant when she was grabbed. According to investigators, the woman said she was raped behind a garage.
Ramapo police have not disclosed the victim's name, but they said she was treated at a hospital and released.
?It's a little scary that now we have to keep a watch out to make sure nothing happens to the neighbors and to yourself,? said a local resident Dottie Bogin.
The rape suspect is described as a white male, about 5 feet 10 inches, with blond hair.
A group of local teens said the description matches a man who has been living in the woods.
?We were just fishing,? said one of the boys, Brandon Kafka, ?And he just seemed like a real strange guy.?
Ramapo police said they're looking into the lead and checking local surveillance cameras. They also intend to speak with the victim again for additional details.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Ramapo police at 203-357-2400.
