A 13-year-old Newburgh teen is facing charges Thursday for allegedly going on a destructive joyride.
Police say they first saw the girl speeding at Dubois and Broadway Tuesday night. They say the unlicensed teen failed to stop and continued weaving along several streets. She allegedly hit a parked car near Brittany Herring's home, causing it to skid onto a woman's lawn.
"I heard a crash. It was a big mess. Everybody was outside. The police were everywhere," Herring says. "I was thankful that it didn't hit the house," Herring says of the hit vehicle.
The girl then smashed into three other parked cars in the area before stopping, according to police.
The young suspect was arrested and charged with fleeing police, reckless driving and reckless endangerment. Her case is being handled in family court.
