This Memorial Day, getting vaccinated will be a walk in the park.

This weekend, part of FDR State Park will transform into a pop-up vaccination site with a summertime incentive on top.

Two Hudson Valley state parks - FDR in Westchester and Harriman in Rockland County - are among 15 statewide offering visitors a chance to get their COVID-19 shot while enjoying the outdoors.

Tens of thousands of people visit FDR on any given weekend in the summer, says Yorktown Town Supervisor Matt Slater.

Slater says he's been pushing the state to put a vaccination site at the location for months.

"It just makes a lot of sense to use this particular site for this promotion through the weekend and obviously we all want a normal summer and the vaccine is a very important step to get us to that normalcy," says Slater.

As another incentive, anyone who gets a shot anywhere this week can show their vaccination card at a state park ticket booth and receive a free two-day state park pass for a later trip. You'll get free parking and access to the park's beaches and pools as well. The pass is good until the end of September.

A total of 44% of all New Yorkers are fully vaccinated but supply still outweighs demand.
