Flood-prone communities in our area are set to receive assistance from the state, with Gov. Kathy Hochul announcing $1.8 million in grants allocated for communities along the Hudson River.

The grants aim to enhance various aspects of community resilience and sustainability, including improving river access, education, and overall sustainability measures.

Several areas, including the Town of Red Hook, the Village of Nyack, Hastings-on-Hudson, Ardsley, and Cortlandt, are among those slated to benefit from the grants.

In addition to local municipalities, educational institutions such as Pace University and Bard College, along with environmental advocacy organization Riverkeeper Inc., will also receive funding to support initiatives aimed at bolstering resilience and addressing challenges posed by flooding along the river.
