Ryan declared winner in 19th Congressional District race; Molinaro has not conceded

Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan was declared the winner for the special election in the 19th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has not conceded.

Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan was declared the winner for the special election in the 19th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press. Republican Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro has not conceded.
The election was held to fill the seat vacated by Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado for the rest of the year.
This race was a big one across the country because it's the first since Roe v. Wade was overturned, so it could show how strongly voters feel about abortion rights heading into the November midterms.
Molinaro says he's interested in rolling back bail reform, reducing federal spending and cutting down inflation.
Ryan says he wants to fight for abortion rights, lower health care cost and invest in clean energy.
Redistricting has created some quirks at the ballot box.
At the same time of the special election, Ryan also ran - and won - as the Democratic nominee for the state's new 18th congressional district
