A 2-year-old girl was struck and killed in Ramapo today, just blocks away from the site of where another young child was also hit.
Police say the fatal accident happened in the parking lot of a strip mall at Lincoln and Jefferson avenues in the New Square section of the village. They say the girl was transported to Nyack Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Just hours earlier, 4-year-old Yakov Itzkowitz was struck on Calvert Drive in Monsey. Fortunately, the boy survived with only minor bruises, but his father says the incident could have been prevented if construction workers took proper precautions.
Residents say slower speed limits are needed, especially with a lot of children running around the area.
