Two more students turned themselves in to police Tuesday after a fight between two gangs broke out at Ramapo High School Monday.
Police say Derek Dixon was one of the two students who turned themselves in. The two teens join 13 other students, who were arrested Monday in what police have classified as a gang fight. Three students were taken to the hospital after the incident.
According to Dixon?s mother, Juanita, Dixon was involved in a fight between the same groups over the weekend and was beaten up.
?He's a victim,? Juanita Dixon says. ?He's not into no gangs or anything. It?s basically the Meadow Lake kids who don't like the kids in the Hill section. That's the bottom line and it?s got to stop.?
The 15 students arrested, including Dixon, face charges of riot in the second-degree, which is a misdemeanor. All of the students arrested were released to their parents. They have been suspended from school. School officials say they are considering making some of the suspensions permanent.
An amateur video of the fight was posted on YouTube, but has since been removed.
