The Black Sunday juror accused of inappropriate contact with a firefighter handed over two Facebook messages Friday to a Bronx judge, who will decide the fate of a guilty verdict.
The landlord of the building where two firefighters died in January 2005 was convicted of criminally negligent homicide in February. Defense lawyers for Cesar Rios say Karen Krell, a juror in the case, contacted a firefighter who survived the fire that killed two comrades.
"I'm awed at what you and others went through," read a part of one of the two messages Krell sent to firefighter Brendan Cawley. That first message was allegedly sent during the trial, and a second was allegedly sent after the jury handed down the verdict.
The judge could decide to toss the guilty verdict against Rios.
