The U.S. Census Bureau's Portrait of America road tour arrived in Spring Valley Friday to inform residents of the importance in participating in the census.
Every year, the federal government sets aside $400 billion for infrastructure and social service improvements, and census data will help determine how much of that money Rockland will receive.
?It's awfully important for anybody who is residing in Rockland County [to] fill it out, and that way Rockland County will be properly counted,? says Rockland County Executive Scott Vanderhoef.
Feb. 15 through March 15 has been declared Census Awareness Month in Rockland. Census forms will arrive in mailboxes between March 15 and 17.
