Hundreds participated in the 2023 Into the Light Walk in Westchester early this morning to raise awareness about mental health.

Lanterns flew high above Pleasantville High School to mark the start of the event. The fifth annual walk honors Brian Halloran, a college student who committed suicide in 2018..

Halloran’s father started the Break the Hold Foundation to bring attention to mental health issues.

“People have to make a commitment to mental health. People have to care about my son, care about other people we've lost and they're here to do it. They're here to turn the tide. We want new things to happen. We want a different world,” he said.

This year's walk drew a near record of 750 people.
