New information has been released from police and a witness about some dangerous bus rides that News 12 viewers first spotted on the Palisades last week.

State police tell News 12 that the drivers have been identified and so has the owner of the buses. They aren’t releasing their names or any other information while the incident remains under investigation.

Passengers were first seen by News 12 viewers, who recorded passengers dangling from bus windows and holding hands while they were in motion in Haverstraw on July 31.

A witness said the buses appeared to be carrying children and since News 12's exclusive report, more witnesses are coming forward after recognizing the buses from the exclusive video News 12 shared.

“It was reckless,” said Jenn Brophy. “They didn't care which side of the road they were on.”

Brophy says she saw the same brightly colored buses headed toward Westchester, driving over the double yellow line and toward her head-on on the Goat Trail Aug. 1 - the same day as News 12’s first report. She says it wasn’t safe to take video.

“It caught my eye because they were moving a little bit faster than usual, going up the hill and kind of not caring about which way the road went up there,” said Brophy.

A second person also reached out to News 12 saying they spotted the buses driving dangerously on the Goat Trail the same day as Brophy did.

So far, authorities have not said where the buses were headed or coming from. State police say their Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation unit is handling the case.
