Asbury Park native Danny DeVito started rehearsals for a new Broadway play called "I Need That." He is starring with his daughter, Lucy DeVito, in her Broadway debut.

ON THE SCENE: Theater shows coming to Broadway this season

Seeing a play or musical can be expensive, but most theaters in New Jersey that produce their own shows, the professional regional theatres, offer discounts. A number of theaters offer substantial discounts for adults under age 30 or 35. In many cases, $30 tickets that normally go for much more.

Some theaters offer pay what you can nights with a minimum as low as $1 or $5 to see a play or musical. There are also discounts for military, veterans, educators and AAA.
