Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus has introduced his proposed budget for 2024, totaling $923 million.

The plan, unveiled at a meeting of the Orange County Association of Towns, Villages, and Cities, includes a proposed county tax rate of $2.34 per $1,000 of assessed valuation, marking the lowest tax rate in the county since the 1960s.

New initiatives encompass enhancements to the County Arboretum at Thomas Bull Park, active shooter training and the acquisition of Sugar Loaf Mountain for use as a county park.
