Work on the Waverly Avenue Bridge is taking a pause in the Village of Mamaroneck due to a money dispute between the Town of Mamaroneck and the village.

The Department of Transportation says the bridge is "structurally deficient," so the town - which owns the bridge - has been doing a $4.54 million replacement project.

A town contractor was installing barricades when it says the village allegedly took down the barricades and demanded the town pay the village $750,000 for police traffic control

overtime.

The town says the amount is out of line and unjustified and claims the village manager refused to attend meetings.

The town is demanding cooperation from the village to move forward.
