Shoppers throughout the Hudson Valley were encouraged to visit and buy from their local stores for Small Business Saturday following the one of the biggest shopping days of the year.

Customers who swung by Antiques Masters in Nyack could find pretty much any trinket or vintage item that they could imagine.

"I tell the people, 'Don't rush. Go little by little,' and find in reality what you want," said Terry Mahmoud, owner of Antiques Masters.

Mahmoud said the unique items that she sells make for great gifts. It's part of the reason why she encouraged shoppers to support companies like hers this Small Business Saturday.

"Repeatedly, you go into the stores and you find the same thing. In here, you find things that are in no other place," Mahmoud said.

Mahmoud also worked to boost the sales of other entrepreneurs in the area. This year she partnered with Cappi Macsherry, a vintage jewelry vendor, to host a trunk show in the back of her antique shop.

"It starts today and goes through tomorrow," Macsherry said.

Shopper Mimi Davidson was spotted trying on a pearl piece there. She thought a purchase from a mom-and-pop shop would benefit the community.

"It helps the whole economy when we all participate in things like Small Business Saturday," Davidson said.
