The Stony Point Seals celebrated the 25th anniversary of their Super Plunge on Sunday.
Over 250 swimmers jumped into the Hudson River to raise money for children in Rockland County who have high medical bills.
FDNY Deputy Chief John Corcoran is one of the founders of the fundraiser. He said the event originally began as a dare between some of his friends who were playing football together on Super Bowl Sunday.
Corcoran said it eventually turned into a fundraiser when "our wives said, 'If you're gonna do something stupid, do something for good,'" Corcoran said. "We started the following year and we raised $3,000."
This year, the founder expects to raise over $70,000 for Elijah Torres, 5, and 3-year-old Kayden Germosen.
