Residents in Unionville are expressing their safety concerns to News 12 after what appears to be leaking water and popped bolts on a nearby massive water tower.

The roughly 300,000-gallon tower is located near Reservoir Avenue on the border of the village and Town of Westtown.

Community members there say the disrepair, including water stains down the side of the tower, have been visible for a while and that nothing has been done by the village to properly fix it.

Anna DiVito, a former village official, says she’s worried the tower could rupture and seriously hurt people living nearby.

“If that thing burst the water would come right at us. There are the panels, the bolts, the bladder, the water,” says DiVito. “We could die.”

The village’s water operator, Aqua Blue Solutions LLC, says it also notified village officials that the tower needs to be fixed.

Mayor Martin Howard denies the tank is in disrepair and says, "At no time has safety been compromised."
