Two Ulster County property owners were hit with an $8 million fine for illegal waste dumping.

Attorney General Letitia James filed suit against Joseph and Rachel Karolys, accusing the duo of illegal dumping.

Joseph and Karolys repeatedly ignored solid waste and water pollution laws at three properties, according to officials.

The Department of Environmental Conservation and the attorney general's office says they kept accepting and disposing of construction and demolition debris.

Joseph applied to run a solid waste management facility back in 2016, but the DEC says they violated several laws, including lack of water pollution prevention.
