Organizations across the Hudson Valley gave back to the community on Giving Tuesday.

The Sparrow's Nest in Hopewell Junction is collecting donations to deliver homemade meals to families facing a cancer diagnosis in the Hudson Valley.

It is expecting to feed over 800 people each week in Dutchess County over the next few months.

The Sparrow's Nest says these meals have a huge impact on families.

“The average family is on our records for somewhere between 12 to 14 months through their entire treatment and in order to do that, that’s somewhere between a $5,000 and $7,000 cost," says executive director Krista Jones.

The Sparrow's Nest has raised over $10,000 so far on Giving Tuesday
