A decades-old tradition brought thousands to the streets Sunday for the state's largest Pride celebration.

The event, organized by the nonprofit Jersey Pride, featured a parade, live entertainment, and booths for businesses and community groups.

Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn said the 33rd year of the event is especially important as national policies threaten LGBTQ rights, particularly for transgender people.

The celebration began more than 30 years ago, shortly after New Jersey amended its anti-discrimination law to include sexual orientation.
