Long Island celebrates National Lineworker Appreciation Day

This month, PSEG Long Island hosted its line worker academy, training new recruits in installation, troubleshooting and safety.

Lineworkers are often first on scene when the power goes out, climbing poles and handling high voltage lines in unpredictable conditions.

This month, PSEG Long Island hosted its line worker academy, training new recruits in installation, troubleshooting and safety.

Lineworker Appreciation Day was first recognized in 2013 - and now marked every April 18.

PSEG Long Island says about 700 lineworkers serve the region, responding to outages and emergencies around the clock - from extreme heat to major storms
