An early morning fire in Williamsburg sent one person to the hospital and disrupted a quiet block for hours.

It happened around 2:05 a.m. Tuesday at 356 S. 1st St., just off Borinquen Place.

Fire crews say the flames were reported on the second floor of the building. Video shared on the Citizen app shows firefighters outside with a ladder stretched up to the upper floors as they worked to get things under control.

One person was taken to the hospital. Two others were checked out at the scene but did not go with EMS.

Dozens of firefighters and emergency crews responded. The fire was brought under control by about 3:09 a.m.

Right now, it’s still not clear what caused the fire. There’s also no update yet on the condition of the person who was hospitalized.
