Connecticut state Senate passed a bill focusing on protecting youth from predators within youth camps.

The bill comes after a camp counselor in Bethany was charged with sexually assaulting several young girls.

A state report revealed that a Bethany first selectman knew of the allegations but did not remove the counselor from the camp.

The selectman also failed to notify parents of the counselor’s behavior.

A push to license town-run camps was attempted last year but failed over monetary concerns.
