Heavy police presence in Trumbull leads to suspect in custody

Heavy police presence was reported in Trumbull near Brittany Avenue Thursday morning.

Bridgeport officials say they received a call at approximately 11:14 a.m. of reports of a man striking a vehicle and fleeing the scene.

The man was taken into custody by Trumbull police just before 12:30 p.m. and was identified as 24-year-old Angel Montanez.

Montanez had an active arrest warrant out for his arrest when he was spotted by Bridgeport police.

According to the arrest warrant, Montanez was charged with second-degree strangulation, second-degree unlawful restraint, as well as two counts of risk of injury to a minor among other charges.

Montanez was additionally charged with engaging in police pursuit and interfering with an officer due to his actions this morning.

His total bond was set at $800,000.

He is now in the custody of Bridgeport police with assistance from the Trumbull police, the Connecticut State Police and the Monroe Police.
