A woman and four dogs were rescued from a house fire Thursday afternoon in Stanford.

State police say they rushed to the scene after receiving a 911 call reporting the fire on Trestle Lane.

The 65-year-old woman was trapped inside the residence, according to officials.

Crews were able to remove her and the dogs through a rear window.

Stanford, East Clinton, Pine Plains, Millbrook, Pleasant Valley, West Clinton, Union Vale fire departments and the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office assisted in the operation.

Authorities say the woman was hospitalized and treated for smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
