Another fire broke out at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center site Monday morning in Poughkeepsie.
Crews responded to reports of smoke coming from the property just days after a massive blaze tore through multiple buildings.
The initial call for smoke coming from the building came at about 6 a.m.
Officials say the fire impacted part of the administration building, which had previously been spared.
Firefighters were able to stop the flames from spreading further into the structure on Wednesday, though it does not appear the building avoided damage this time.
While Monday’s fire is mostly out, according to firefighters, other fire departments have either been sent to the scene or placed on standby in case of any escalation at the scene.
The site had already suffered significant destruction during last week’s fire, when several buildings burned in the middle of the day.
At that time, officials believed the fire had been brought under control.
The property has been vacant for years and has been the focus of long-standing redevelopment plans.
Developers, town officials and preservation advocates have been working toward converting parts of the campus into residences while preserving historic structures. The developer, Enviro Finance Group, has been granted several extensions since first committing to the project in 2015.
Those plans are now facing new uncertainty as damage continues at the site.
Crews remain on scene monitoring conditions as smoke continues to rise.
