Dozens of girls have been located after exploring the sewer system in downtown Nyack Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say a group of about 70 teenage girls from the Toras Emachu school in Monsey were on a school trip in Memorial Park in Nyack and entered a large drainage culvert which collects the majority of water runoff for the village.
Police were alerted when an Orangetown police officer noticed numerous young girls exiting a sewer grate in an alley off Main Street in the Village of Nyack.
The girls explored the village's underground tunnels, which runs mostly under Nyack and emerges in certain places. Most of the group was found at Main and Franklin streets.
All of the students were able to exit the culvert on their own and no one was seriously injured.
One girl was treated at the scene, and another was taken to Montefiore Nyack Hospital for abdominal pain.
All of the girls in the group are safe and accounted for.
