Police say they arrested the father of a 12-year-old New Rochelle boy who was found after being missing for more than a year.

Detectives say they located 54-year-old Dwight Richards in the Bronx on Monday and arrested him on a Family Court warrant.

Police say Richards Sr. took 12-year-old King Richards during a custodial situation on March of 2025.

Police say King was not present.

Richards Sr. facilitated the return of his son to police following his arrest.

King was evaluated and found to be in good health. He was reunited with his mother, who holds full custody.

Richards Sr. was charged with a violation of the Family Court Act and also arrested for criminal contempt in the second degree based on a Westchester County warrant stemming from this case.
