A friendly rivalry between Westchester’s police officers and firefighters is stepping back into the ring.

The Westchester County Clash is returning for its second year, bringing together first responders and county workers for a boxing event that raises money for veterans and fellow first responders.

This year, proceeds will benefit Hope for Heroes, a local nonprofit that supports disabled military members and first responders. The organization was founded by retired Westchester County K-9 officer and veteran Mitch Serlin.

"As a cop, we go out and help individuals at whatever scene we go to and I just saw that, you know, we're not helping ourselves," said Serlin.

Serlin says the money raised will go toward building a lodge that will serve as a safe space for veterans and first responders, while also supporting the organization’s day-to-day operations.

The Westchester County Clash is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, at 6 p.m. at the Westchester County Center.
