Former New Rochelle teacher ruled not fit to stand trial and sent to psychiatric center

A former teacher has been deemed not fit to stand trial in a case tied to alleged threats against officials within the New Rochelle School District.
Samuel McVey has been remanded to Mid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center, officials said.
McVey was indicted on charges including grand larceny, criminal contempt, aggravated harassment and bail jumping.
Authorities say that McVey made threats earlier this year against school district officials. He was first charged in February, shortly after he was fired as a Spanish teacher at Isaac Young Middle School. Authorities say he also posted numerous videos on YouTube.
McVey has denied the allegations.
He failed to appear for a previous court date, prompting a warrant for his arrest, according to police.
He was later taken into custody in Louisiana and returned to Westchester County.
McVey was remanded to the psychiatric center on Monday for treatment and evaluation.
The case is scheduled to return to court on July 24.
