A carjacking suspect is being sought after a police pursuit ended with a crash and an officer firing shots in The Bronx, according to Yonkers police.
The incident began around 10:17 a.m. when Yonkers officers started pursuing a vehicle linked to a carjacking.
Police said the pursuit entered The Bronx, where the suspect drove the wrong way on a Mosholu Parkway exit ramp and crashed head-on into a marked Yonkers police vehicle.
As officers tried to take the suspect into custody after the crash, the driver allegedly drove directly at a uniformed officer who was outside his vehicle, Yonkers police said.
The officer then fired several shots at the suspect, who fled the scene, police said.
The suspect remained at large Wednesday afternoon.
The officer involved suffered injuries related to the crash and was reported in stable condition.
Police said no officers were struck by gunfire, and no civilian injuries were reported.
Officers from several agencies are searching for the suspect.
