The murder of a Yorktown college student sparked a heated exchange during a congressional hearing in Washington, D.C., focused on sanctuary city policies.

The confrontation happened as Republican Rep. Mike Lawler was introducing the mother of Sheridan Gorman to speak.

Lawler and Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin, of Maryland, exchanged heated words during the hearing.

Gorman was a freshman at Loyola University in Chicago. She was fatally shot near campus earlier this year.

Jose Medina is charged with Gorman's murder. Medina was in the United States illegally.
