Paramus police charge Airmont man in gas station robbery that injured attendant
Suspect accused of driving over worker's foot after allegedly stealing $50 worth of gasoline.

An Airmont man has been charged in connection with a robbery and aggravated assault after allegedly stealing gasoline and driving over a gas station attendant’s foot in Paramus, police said.
The incident happened around 8 a.m. on May 29 at the Exxon station on Route 17 North.
According to Paramus police, the driver requested $50 worth of regular gasoline and told the attendant he would pay in cash. After the fuel was dispensed, the driver allegedly drove away without paying, running over the attendant’s right foot as he fled.
The 43-year-old attendant, of Oradell, was taken to a hospital for treatment.
Detective Joseph Windt reviewed surveillance video that captured the incident and identified the suspect vehicle as a 2005 Lexus with New York registration. With assistance from the Clarkstown Police Department, investigators identified the driver as Alexis J. Santiago, 35, of Airmont.
Police said Santiago was taken into custody by the New York State Police on unrelated charges on the evening of May 29.
Santiago was charged with robbery, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault by auto and theft, as well as a disorderly persons offense.
