Monday's storm left some Lindenhurst streets covered in water, something residents say they're used to.

It's become routine for many residents who live near the water in Lindenhurst that when there's an expected storm and potential flooding in the forecast, they move their cars to higher ground.

Monday's storm left streets south of Montauk flooded, including Surf and Beach streets.

James Roy says he watches the weather, checks the high tides and if he thinks the water will be more than two or three feet above sea level, he moves his cars.

He takes the flooding in stride.

"It happens a lot here," Roy said. "The bad thing about living by the water is that it keeps coming up. It comes up through the drains. And when it rains it pours."

Roy's neighbor Rob Roll told News 12 that the flooding happens about seven times a year.

He said it's worth it to live by the water, but resident Dan Hock told News 12 that moving his car back and forth is frustrating.

"It's ridiculous," he said.
