Police say a man is dead after being run over by a garbage truck in Brooklyn on Wednesday.

Just before 5 a.m., police say a garbage truck was backing into a building on Stanley Avenue in East New York when it hit 54-year-old Franklin Torres, who was standing inside the building.

Investigators say Torres then fell, and the truck rolled over him before coming to a stop.

Torres was taken to One Brooklyn Health-Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

Police say the driver of the garbage truck remained on the scene and no arrests have been made.

Police say the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.
