Police say a teenage boy died from neglect in Mott Haven and his mother and grandmother are now facing murder charges.

Detectives were called to Lincoln Hospital Pediatrics on March 19 about the suspicious death of 16-year-old Adonis Jarvis. The NYPD says the teen was severely malnourished and had developmental disabilities.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner later ruled his death a homicide.

Police say officers arrested the teen's mother, Geneva Jarvis, 36, and grandmother, Denis Jarvis, 62, and charged them with murder over four months after the teens death was reported to the NYPD.

All three family members lived at an apartment building on East 147th Street, according to the NYPD.

Officers walked the mother and grandmother out of the 40th Precinct in handcuffs Thursday afternoon. They both remained silent.

Additional information about the case was not immediately available.
