Ossining community comes together to help those impacted by fire sparked by lightning

The community is stepping up to help following a fire at an apartment complex in Ossining caused by a lightning strike.
Officials say it happened Friday night at the Parth Knolls apartment complex on Hawkes Avenue.
"Lightning, thunder. It was violent," said Judith Paul.
Paul was inside her home at the complex when the storm came through.
"All of a sudden, I heard an explosion. I didn't realize it was on the roof of our building," Paul explained.
Officials said the sound was lightning. It sparked a four-alarm fire.
"I didn't have an opportunity to get a phone, any identification, nothing. I just had to go," Paul told News 12.
News 12 was told that everyone made it out and no injuries were reported. But officials say the damage is significant.
That's where Matthew Gullotta comes in. He is the founder and president of the Gullotta House.
"Let's serve them, let's help them," said Gullotta.
Not only have they been helping people like Paul with a temporary place to stay, but also with other aspects of recovery.
On Monday, they arranged for Paul to get her car detailed at AAA Nolan's Auto Collision in Ossining.
"The inside of the car, from all the smoke damage, there's a lot of soot, so we're going to give a detail," said Bobby Nolan, who is with AAA Nolan's Auto Collision.
Paul says the Gullotta House has helped greatly in this time of need.
"They've relieved us of so much stress," Paul said.
The Gullotta House is also accepting monetary donations that will go directly to the families impacted by the fire.
Additionally, they say gift cards and clothes will go a long way for these families.
