Six people, including two firefighters, were injured during a fire Tuesday in West Farms, the FDNY says.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. at 1773 Vyse Ave.
Officials say the fire started on the second floor of a six-story building and then extended to the floors above. A second alarm was declared at 4:49 p.m.
Four people were taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital. Officials say two of those people were seriously injured, while the others had minor injuries.
Two firefighters also had minor injuries but were not taken to the hospital.
It's not clear what started the fire.
The American Red Cross has opened a reception center at PS 314.
As of 10 p.m.. Tuesday, the Red Cross had registered 13 households, which consisted of 26 adults and 17 children, for assistance.
Those impacted are encouraged to visit the reception center for help.
