A former Putnam County resident has pleaded guilty to stealing $212,000 from two nonprofit organizations in Garrison over a four-year period.

Putnam County District Attorney Robert Tendy announced that Mark Kenny pleaded guilty Oct. 13 to the entire indictment against him, including two counts of second-degree grand larceny and one count of first-degree falsifying business records.

Authorities say Kenny served as treasurer of both the Garrison Fish and Game Club and the Catfish Pond Association, where he systematically stole organizational funds.

The investigation began in December 2024 after members of both organizations reported suspected thefts to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office. Investigators determined Kenny had stolen a combined $212,000 from the nonprofits over several years.

Kenny, who previously lived in Garrison and later moved to Orange County, is scheduled to be sentenced Jan. 26, 2027.
