The Bronx District Attorney has announced indictments for a Bronx couple in connection with the death of their 3-year-old daughter and neglect of their son.

According to the investigation, 911 responded to the family's apartment on East 215th Street regarding a report that a 3-year-old girl was having trouble breathing. The child was transported by EMS to Montefiore Medical Center, where she was pronounced deceased. The child was identified as 3-year-old Essence Gill.

The Medical examiner later ruled her death as a homicide, citing acute and chronic neglect, including malnutrition and dehydration.

Another child resided in the home, who was also found severely malnourished and had to be hospitalized for a month.

Calvin Harris, 37, and Ymonzherae Gill, 35, are facing charges for murder, manslaughter and assault.

Harris is being remanded without bail, and Gill's bail was set at $500,000 cash/$750,000 bond.

They are due back in court on Dec. 9.
