Police released new video of suspects who allegedly attacked an off-duty police officer and authorities were seeking three additional men Monday in connection with the case.
Tyron Selby, 32, Adrian Medina, 17, and a 15-year-old are three suspects in custody; they are accused of assaulting the officer at the High Life bodega on the Grand Concourse. Before reporting to work at the 44th Precinct at around 6 a.m. Saturday, the officer said he found himself surrounded outside the store.
Police say the officer told the assailants he was a police officer, but they continued to attack him. In the melee, the suspects allegedly took the officer's gun from his holster. The officer wrestled the weapon back, but lost it again as he fell to the ground during the struggle, according to investigators. The 15-year-old suspect picked up the weapon and fled, leaving the officer and the remaining attackers at the store, according to police.
Investigators say multiple witnesses called 911, and uniformed officers arrived to detain two of the suspects; the 15-year-old who ran off with the gun was arrested shortly after with the weapon in his possession.
The officer was taken to Bronx Lebanon Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
