A $3 million road construction project in Nanuet may lead to road closures and delays throughout the week.
It's part of the Rockland County Highway Department's improvement initiative for the Pascack Road and Lawrence Street intersection.
The project includes the addition of a left-turn lane through road widening, replacing an existing signal at the intersection, and replacing a nearby culvert carrying Pascack Road over the Pascack Brook. Highway officials emphasize the necessity of the project to alleviate congestion and enhance safety at the intersection, particularly addressing safety issues caused by the lack of a left-turn lane on southbound Pascack Road.
This week, North Pascack Road will be closed in the southbound direction only between the South Pascack Road/Lawrence Street intersection and the one-way tunnel at Smith Road. These closures will occur from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. for utility work.
Highway department officials advise drivers to anticipate delays and follow detour route signs provided during the construction period.
