While
many of you are cooking and getting ready to eat this morning, others kicked off their Thanksgiving by running.
We
Run Mount Vernon hosted their 3rd annual Thanksgiving
Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk.
The
race started at 8 a.m. at Hartley Park, North Third Avenue entrance of Hartley Park and ends at the East Lincoln entrance to Hartley Park.
This is the second year people are running the 3.1
mile loop around the neighborhood in-person.
It was virtual the first year because of COVID-19.
But whether people ran or walked, organizers are just happy to see people out
and active, especially on a Thanksgiving Day – before the feasting begins.
"Our children know that movement, we're going to be eating a lot for
Thanksgiving, we want our kids to know that it's also important to move,"
says Nelda Bianca Bazil, founder and president, We Run Mount Vernon.
