Five people were injured in a car accident in Parkchester this morning.
The crash happened just after 9 a.m. on the Cross Bronx Expressway, near the White Plains Road exit.
Dennis Sales, an employee at Flower Shack, watched the entire crash unfold and described the scene as something out of an action movie. He says a father and son had just left the shop after buying a bouquet of flowers for Mother's Day. A Honda, coming off the expressway northbound, slammed into the back of the father's Chrysler minivan, pushing it into the back of a truck.
The Honda driver tried to flee by making a sharp right onto White Plains Road, but ended up flipping his car.
Sales says the driver then tried to escape on foot, but he notified police, who caught the driver shortly after.
In total, five people were taken to Jacobi Medical Center, one in critical condition, the other four in serious condition.
There is no word yet on whether the Honda driver will face charges.
