Temple Hill sixth grader, Aiyanna Melton, helped fellow students understand the importance of National White Cane Day last week with a special presentation Friday about visually impaired people’s achievements.
Melton is legally blind and taught her classmates, alongside her vision teacher, how to type and write their name in braille, how to walk with a white cane, and gave out cane pretzels and pencils she made to fellow students.
National White Cane Day was celebrated on Oct. 15 this year.
